Astor Piazzolla, Paul Hindemith and Sofia Gubaidulina have composed works which belong firmly within the standard ‘classical’ repertoire. Their works have led to a long term cooperation between Goran Stevanovic (accordion) and Felix Schilling (double bass) – a duo formed at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hannover. They began playing together as part of larger ensembles such as the Camorra Quintet. They have enjoyed extending the duo repertoire through arrangements of works by Robert Schumann, Norbert Linke and Joseph Lauber, as well as the music of the aforementioned composers. Neither instrument is frequently used within the ‘classical’ chamber music repertoire but in combination, they create a unique sound world. They are able to communicate strongly with an audience due to the instruments’ profound temperament and tonal finesse.
